NICE GUY DAVE

Singer-Songwriter & Musician

About DAVE

Songs from the heart with creative lyrics & melody. Alternative acoustic indie pop rock full of meaning, tuneful & with real feelings. This is the music of a true nice guy, and true lyrics.

Hi i'm Dave I live in England and i'm a singer-songwriter-musician. I was born in Ascot in Berkshire in June 1977, and still live in my hometown of Bracknell, where many of my songs are influenced from.

I'm a nice guy with quite an awesome music taste. My influences are eclectic and diverse, I just appreciate good songwriting and music I can connect to. I've been writing songs for over 20 years, now it's about time that my talent was shown to the world. Believe it or not I have written over 300 songs and I can be quite prolific. I will be recording my music it's coming soon i promise, it's my dream to be able to share it with the world one day!

I am definitely open to collaboration with other artists to provide the musicianship, although i do play a bit of guitar and keyboard myself. I mostly write lyrics from personal experience, the ups and downs, the highs and lows in life, the truths, the real, and find it very therapeutic. And if it helps others too then great. I like to be positive and to be nice to others.

Some songs that I have collaborated with other musicians so far include on "Miraculous Highs And Spectacular Lows", "Be With Me", "You Are Enough", “Fly Through The Sky”, “Bounce Back”, “No Guns All Roses”, “Urban Princess”, “This Is The Peace”, “Glad Sad Mad”, “Vibrant Life” and "Anxiety" with Mark Fletcher from the bands Sectioned & The Saloon Bar Romeos, "Positive Souls" with Jacob Maxwell, "Don't Look Back" with Waritsara Karlberg from Ethereal & The Subwave Network UK, & “Everything Is Awesome Today” with Alan Guy from The Grains.

I am the original founder of Oxjam Bracknell & I organised it every year in my hometown between 2014 & 2016 with all proceeds going towards the charity Oxfam. Some of the acts that played for me are the 2007 Australian Idol winner Natalie Gauci, Only Sun, Cameron Douglas, Lewis Bootle, Jamie Larbalestier, Dead Days, Pistol Kings, Rebecca Jayne, S.O.S, Corinna Jane, The Toniks, Alexander McKay, Nicky Booty, Cherry White, Sophie Hastings, Black Water Band UK, Underdog plus many more. I performed at the event in 2016 with my friend Jo Connor AKA Scent as Mystery Act doing a collaboration version we wrote together of my original song called "It'll Never Be The Way It Was Before", currently on hiatus at the moment, both just working on solo material. We also have other co-written songs such as “39”.

I performed at Oxjam Newbury 2016 & I am continuing to support & help out there every year. In November 2016 I performed at The Cellar Bar at South Hill Park in Bracknell to a good reception.

I also founded DPC Promotions & have put on a few #DiscoverUnsigned gigs in the Berkshire + London area, including highly successful gigs at the legendary music venue the Hope & Anchor in Islington in London. Some of the acts to have played include Freespirits, Imaginary Dreamers, Palumbo, Luna Lacuna, Stone Thieves, Leigh Luscious, Conan Mac, Martyn Peters, Sectioned, The Keep Cats, Joe Symes and The Loving Kind, Shaun Clark, Borders Acoustic Duo, Foxpalmer, Jonny Ryan, A Very Deep Hole, Jacob Maxwell, Bryony, Ethereal, Rob Godfrey, Scent, Oliver Beardmore, Andy Payne, Travelling Souls plus many more, including hosting & performing also. The last one was on Saturday 15th December at the iconic legendary music venue the Hope & Anchor in Islington.

I'm planning more in 2024, if you wish to play please contact me by sending your tagged mp3's to discoverunsigned@gmx.com.  It will most probably stay the same venue now the Hope & Anchor in Islington.

I have performed at quite a few open mics nights in the London area, my favourites being at The Hideaway Bar in Tufnell Park, London hosted by Fern "Foxpalmer" McNulty, & also at The Roadtrip & Workshop. I performed at the You Are Enough Festival at London Fields Brewery in July 2017 in aid of MQ mental health awareness charity as organised by Jonny Ryan, who joined in with the song I wrote specifically for the event. The song is available as a download at http://niceguydave.bandcamp.com/album/you-are-enough and I promise that 50% of whatever the song makes there in the future will be donated to the mental health awareness charity MQ. Would love to record this song properly in the recording studio with a full band of musicians one day along with all of my best other ones.

Songwriting Influences include John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Fran Healy, Chris Martin, Tom Chaplin, Tim Rice-Oxley, Des Lambert, Morrissey, Gary Lightbody, Ricky Wilson, Tom Speight, Jon Secada, George Michael, Tom Odell, Lionel Richie, Noel Gallagher, Liam Gallagher, Richard Ashcroft, Badly Drawn Boy, Neil Diamond, Freya Ridings, Florence Welch, Tom Walker, James Blunt, Jamie Lawson, KT Tunstall etc.

Bands I like include Travis, Coldplay, Keane, Some Velvet Morning, Ceasefire, The Verve, Kings Of Leon, Oasis, Stereophonics, Radiohead, Kaiser Chiefs, Snow Patrol, The Killers, Imagine Dragons, Franz Ferdinand, Mumford & Sons, Florence + The Machine, Kodaline and also a local band I used to promote called BabyHowl from my hometown of Bracknell & got them some great gigs in London, including at O2 Academy Islington and Proud Camden. Also I'm a big fan of most of the music played on Absolute Radio and going to gigs and supporting the local unsigned music scene.

I have my very own online radio station called #discoverunsigned radio  http://discoverunsigned.airtime.pro

My dreams for the future? To record as many of my songs to the best of my ability that I was born to write.  Also it is absolute ambition of mine to win over the support of my local music scene, after I have tried my hardest to give them all support it would be nice to get some respect back.  Some dream of playing Wembley Stadium, but for me a victory would be to gig one day at The Acoustic Couch in Bracknell & at other local venues such as South Hill Park & at events like Dubs At The Park, if only the people there noticed the talent right under their noses that helped them before it even opened.  To keep songwriting, to keep collaborating, to keep improving both as a musician, as a performer & as a person & to keep growing into the man I was always supposed to be.  I have no real desire to play live that much, more so just to record the songs that basically wrote themselves during my life.  I know that I was blessed & given this gift, so I will strive to keep on with getting down on record everything the way I wrote it.  Would be nice though to be asked to play at great events & festivals now & again, I am open to offers & negotiable.....

Some probably write me off as either quiet in person or too much because of my endless passion & positivity.  All I can say is that is a very poor reflection of you if you see me like that.
But those that really know me know there is so much more about my life journey to discover, & what makes me tick....

Thank you to all of you #nicepeople for joining me on this journey.  Hope to see you soon along the way....
